As a child she had many obstacles and stereotypes to overcome because of her accent. But Gloria does not identify herself socially with either of the groups so her language is appropriate for people who speak it too.
What Chicanos experience is an identity or problem of borders and cultures, and they do not acculturate well, causing them economic problems as they live in either space.
